Teaching Objectives:  This training program will...  Interpret foundational knowledge about what a land acknowledgement is and why we do them Explore and address some of the barriers many learners experience when doing land acknowledgements Develop your own land acknowledgement
As you move through this course, you will engage with video clips, activities, reflection questions, and resource recommendations to help you along your learning journey. These materials include some examples of land acknowledgements being done by UBC staff, a step-by-step guide for identifying and deepening your knowledge of the lands you are on, and an opportunity to draft and share your own land acknowledgement anonymously with other learners. Learning Objectives: After completing this course, you will be able to:
Articulate the importance, relevance, and social/historical context of doing land acknowledgements. Create a land acknowledgement that is meaningful, respectful, and sincere. Utilize resources and educational tools needed to create land acknowledgements.
