Audience: For administrators who are responsible for graduation adjudication in Workday. If the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies or the College of Graduate Studies manages program completion for your graduate students, this course does not apply to you.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define and describe a program's Program Completion Application Policy and how it affects student eligibility to submit a Program Completion application. 
  • Define and describe available Program of Study Statuses and Program Completion Statuses, how/when they change during the application and adjudication process, and the impact of each on the student's ability to manage their programs and registration. 
  • Describe what an application period is in Workday, including application period dates and deadlines.  
  • Describe where a student can find the Program Completion Application in Workday. 
  • Describe the step-by-step process for a student to complete their Program Completion Application, including the information that is collected at each step. 
  • Describe how an expected completion date in the graduation application controls its successful completion and impacts the student's ability to manage their programs and registration. 
  • Describe what to enter for an Expected Completion Date that will correspond with the desired conferral period. 
  • Update a student’s Program Completion Status, and use Student Notes to track adjudication notes. 
  • Describe which Program Completion Statuses allow students to auto-generate Program Completion letters.  
  • Assign a Program of Study Honor/Award, and describe where it will appear on the student record, pre- and post-conferral.  

Run reports to:

  • Find students who have applied for program completion. 
  • View questionnaire responses. 
  • Gather useful information for making decisions regarding a student’s program completion status. 
  • Assist in calculating program or key-course averages. 
  • Find students with conferred degrees.
