Audience: All faculty and staff at UBCV/O
Join us for this session, focusing on how we can make time to calm down and reduce stress by using both proactive and reactive relaxation techniques.
Our minds and bodies need rest and recovery breaks to allow us to relax and reduce the effects of stress. Sure, we will sometimes experience days that are hectic and unfocused, but if we find ourselves consistently feeling stressed out, rushed, or on the go -- this can have a detrimental impact on a person. If we are in a constant state of we increase our risk of physical concerns, such heart disease or stroke. Take some time learn some helpful stress relaxation techniques, delivered by our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider: LifeWorks.
In this session, participants will learn to:
- Understand the stress response and how it works
- Discuss the importance of managing stress for optimal health
- Practice stress reducing exercises
Trina Homeniuk is a Registered Social Worker and Certified Child and Youth Counsellor with the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA).
Trina's professional and training skills include: intercultural communication, addiction and mental health, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, family violence, as well as team dynamics/workplace. Trina has an engaging communication style, integrates professional experiences, adds humour when possible, and works to connect with groups on a personal level.
She has worked in the area of health and community services in the Edmonton region for over 20 years including United Way of the Alberta Capital Region, in Addiction and Mental Health with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and currently works as an instructor at Norquest College.
