Title: Shifting Our Perspective on Inclusion and Accessibility

When: December 1st 10:00am - 11:00am

Speaker: Karen Lai. She works as an independent consultant in accessibility and inclusion. She works with businesses and organizations to increase the accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Event Description: In the week recognizing the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we invite you to take part in a workshop to shift our thinking about inclusion and accessibility. We need to be continually in conversation about it, rather than offer a set of prescribed guidelines for including people with disabilities. People are complex, similar to onions, where we have layers of identities that define us. Karen will provide the space to have authentic conversations so that we can build a sense of welcome and belonging for one another.

Accessibility: American Sign Language interpretation and live captioning will be available at this event. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to make this event more accessible for you. You can contact usLinks to an external site. by email at workplace.accessibility@ubc.ca or call us at 604-822-8139.
