Full course description

In Mental Health First Aid you will learn to respond to emerging mental health problems and mental health crisis by learning a first aid framework. This framework is for having confident conversations about mental health with family, friends, colleagues, students, and strangers.  There is no cost to this training.

Participants will learn:

  • Increased awareness of signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems
  • Decreased stigma related to mental health
  • Increased confidence interacting with individuals experiencing a mental health problem or crisis
  • Increased help provided to individuals in crisis or experiencing a mental health problem

 

 

Who is this for?

All faculty and staff at UBC Okanagan, particularly those in front-facing or first responder roles.

 

Date and Time:

November 14 & 17, 2023 - 9:00AM to 4:30PM

Location: FIPKE Building: FIP 124. This 2-day training is in person.

 

Attendance:

Participants will not be eligible for a course certificate if they miss more than 60 minutes of material.

There is a minimum attendance number required for this training to run. If you can no longer attend, please unenroll to allow someone else to participate. Registrants will be notified if the training is cancelled.

Amanda Swoboda is a certified trainer for Mental Health First Aid through The Mental Health Commission of Canada.
