About this training:

Established by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, The Working Mind is an evidence-based training program designed to address and promote mental health and reduce stigma in a workplace setting. It includes easily applied scenario-based practical applications, videos of people with lived experience of mental illness, reference guides, and practical handouts.  

 

Who is this for?
All faculty and staff at UBC Okanagan.

 

Participants will learn how to:

•    Learn about basic concepts of mental health and mental illness
•    Recognize its signs and indicators, in themselves and others
•    Reduce stigma and negative attitudes toward people with mental health problems
•    Support colleagues with mental health problems
•    Maintain their own mental health and improve their resilience.
Participants will receive a course certificate upon completion.

 

Date & Time:
July 10, 2024 - 9:00am - 3:00pm - In person 

 

Attendance:
Participants will not be eligible for a course certificate if they miss more than 30 minutes of material.
Space is limited and there are a minimum number of participants required to run the course. Please ensure that you can attend. If you have registered and can no longer attend, please drop the course as soon as you are able to allow others to register. Registrants will be notified if the training is cancelled.
Please note if you are a manager, supervisor, or team lead, there is The Working Mind for Managers training. 

Location:
FIPKE 140. This training is in person.

Amanda Swoboda is a certified trainer for The Working Mind trainers through The Mental Health Commission of Canada.
