Leadership is more than managing people—it’s about fostering a growth mindset, aligning goals, and leading with confidence in a constantly evolving workplace. Leadership Launchpad is a structured, interactive program designed to equip managers with the practical tools and insights needed to develop high-performing teams and navigate leadership challenges effectively.

What to Expect

Building on the success of previous cohorts, this program runs from April to October, combining expert-led workshops with LinkedIn Learning courses and small peer learning circles (3–4 participants) to reinforce practical application.  The sessions will be led by a mix of internal experts and external professionals, each offering specialized knowledge in their respective fields.

  • Building a Leadership Mindset (Session Apr 8, 1-4pm) – Explore the internal and external factors that shape leadership effectiveness and develop strategies to lead with clarity and impact.
  • Mastering DISC for Effective Leadership (Apr 24, 1-4pm) – Use the DISC assessment to understand communication and work styles, helping you collaborate more effectively and adapt to different team dynamics. (Includes assessment tool and individual report.)
  • Setting, Aligning & Communicating Goals (May 13, 1-4pm) – Learn how to set individual goals that align with departmental and organizational priorities. Improve clarity in goal communication to enhance alignment and accountability within your team.
  • The Coach Approach to Leadership (May 27, 1-4pm) Develop coaching skills to empower teams, enhance collaboration, and foster a culture of continuous development.
  • Feedback Mastery (June 10, 1-4pm) – Strengthen your ability to give and receive feedback, including managing difficult conversations with confidence.
  • Peer Learning Circles (July/August) – Engage in two structured discussions in small groups of 3–4 to reflect, apply learning, and continue to build your leadership capability.
  • Leading Through Tough Conversations (Sep 17, 1-4pm) – Develop skills to navigate challenging workplace interactions effectively.
  • Leading in Unionized Environments (Oct 8, 1-4pm) – Learn about management rights, performance management, reclassification, and additional topics relevant to leading in a unionized setting.
  • Fueling Success: Strategies for Team Recognition & Motivation (Oct 28, 1-4pm) – Learn how to inspire, recognize, and retain talent to build high-performing teams. 

Who Should Attend? This program is designed for UBCO faculty and staff who manage people and have direct reports. If you're responsible for leading and developing a team, this program will equip you with the tools and strategies to enhance your leadership effectiveness.

Program Fee: CAD $399 (includes the DISC assessment tool and individualized report). PD fund eligible
