Date: A session is offered in February, June, and October.

The booking calendar opens for registration 90 days before the course date.

Please note, initial enrollment and payment for the course do NOT automatically register a spot in the next session. Participants must book their session via the calendar link in the Book Your Practical Session course module. Sessions will not be visible in the calendar if greater than 90 days from the scheduled date or if the session is full.

Additional sessions may be offered if there is enough demand. On-site training is also possible if your site has at least 8 people to attend. Contact research.safety@ubc.ca for further information.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course equips the participant to ship or receive infectious substances associated with bio-medical, research, or animal units.  Participants will learn to properly label, document and package dangerous goods for road or air transport.  Emphasis is placed on the handling of diagnostic specimens, biological products, genetically modified organisms, and dry ice.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

This 3.5-hour course is delivered entirely in person on Point Grey Campus.
