COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course prepares a UBC researcher, faculty, staff or student to appropriately autoclave laboratory solid waste contaminated with Risk Group 1 and 2 biohazardous materials (Category B Infectious Substances) and safely dispose of this delisted waste using the SRS Environmental Services Facility. The training provides an overview of waste autoclaving requirements, including process effectiveness monitoring, monthly inspections, and record-keeping, to ensures compliance with relevant legislation.

 

PREREQUISITE:

• Hazardous Waste Management Training must be completed within the last 3 years.

• Biosafety for Study Team Members must be completed within the last 5 years

 

COURSE STRUCTURE:

The course consists of two videos (total of 15 min), followed by a quiz.
