COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Please note: (a) this training is meant only for UBC Point Grey laboratory personnel, at locations where the SRS Environmental Services Facility (ESF) provides direct autoclaved waste disposal service; AND (b) the course does not replace other current, applicable training requirements, protocols and procedures.
The completion of this course ensures autoclaved delisted solid waste can be safely handled and disposed of via ESF, in compliance with relevant legislation, as required by the BC Ministry of Environment and Metro Vancouver. The training provides a brief overview of proper autoclaving of Risk Group 1&2 (Category B Infectious Substances) contaminated solid waste. The key focus is the verification of autoclave treatment efficacy, including monthly inspections, record-keeping, waste packaging, etc.
PREREQUISITE:
• Hazardous Waste Management Training must be completed within the last 3 years.
• Biosafety for Study Team Members must be completed within the last 5 years
COURSE STRUCTURE:
The course consists of two videos (total of 15 min), followed by a quiz.
