Welcome to UBC Food Services!
The UBC Food Services New Employees Orientation course provides essential knowledge to help you start your journey at UBC. This comprehensive course covers key aspects including UBC Food Services' mission and values, the CUPE 116 union and types of appointments, UBC payroll and benefits via Workday, different types of leave, safety and emergency procedures pertinent to food services services, departmental policies and procedures, and resources for issues or concerns.
By the end of this course, you will:
- Gain a deep understanding of UBC Food Services' Mission and Values.
- Meet the Food Services Leadership team.
- Familiarize yourself with the CUPE 116 union and various types of appointments.
- Understand UBC payroll and benefits administration through Workday.
- Learn about different type of leaves available to UBC food services employees.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the safety and emergency procedures specific to food services services.
- Gain knowledge on food services policies and procedures.
- Gain familiarity with VPS and SHCS.
This orientation course will empower you to contribute effectively to UBC Food Services Services, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff, while also navigating the administrative aspect of your UBC employment.

- A computer or device with internet connection.
- It would be helpful to have a pen and paper throughout the course to write down any questions or notes.
