This event is intended for new staff at the UBC Vancouver campus in their first 6 to 12 months, but we welcome all staff interested in learning more about professional development at UBC.
 
Light snacks and beverages will be served.

Description:
Now that you are settled into your role, join us for the new interactive session to explore the professional development opportunities and resources available to you at UBC, and develop practical skills and goals to support you in navigating and growing your career.
 
Event Agenda: 
  • Welcome and introduction
  • Workshop 1: Mapping Your Career Journey Learn about strategies and workplace attractors that will be useful in planning and managing your career effectively, including self-reflection and visioning
  • Overview of professional development opportunities & resources
  • Workshop 2: Coaching Conversations Learn how formal and peer coaching can help you focus and advance your professional development, and apply coaching for self-clarity and goal setting
  • Networking: Speak with other colleagues and with our experts in PD Funds, Tuition Waivers, and more!
Throughout the event, there will be opportunities to network with colleagues and speak directly with a program specialist about professional development funding, tuition waivers, coaching services, and other professional development opportunities at UBC.
 
Event Outcomes: 
  • Gain practical skills and insights to help you take ownership of your professional development journey at UBC
  • Better understand the professional development opportunities, resources and support available across campus to grow your career and build new skills, and understand how to leverage professional development funding
  • Create new connections with other staff at UBC
