This event is intended for new staff at the UBC Vancouver campus in their first 3 to 12 months, but we welcome all staff interested in learning more about professional development at UBC.
Light snacks and beverages will be served.
Description:
Now that you are settled into your role, join us for the new interactive session to explore the professional development opportunities and resources available to you at UBC, and learn about the framework and supports for you in navigating your career at UBC.
Event Agenda:
- Welcome and introduction
- Orientation to Career Navigation – Learn about UBC’s career navigation philosophy and framework, while participating in reflective exercises to assist you in thinking about career navigation at UBC and maximizing your current role
- Professional Development Resources - Learn about resources that will be useful in planning your learning and development effectively to support your role at UBC
- Resource Spotlights - Hear examples from other staff about their learning pathways and supports available to advance your professional development at UBC
Throughout the event, there will be opportunities to network with colleagues and speak directly with a program specialist about professional development funding, tuition waivers, coaching services, and other professional development opportunities at UBC.
Event Outcomes:
- Gain practical skills and insights to help you take ownership of your professional development journey at UBC
- Develop an understanding of career navigation at UBC
- Better understand the professional development opportunities, resources and support available across campus to grow your career and build new skills, and understand how to leverage professional development funding
- Create new connections with other staff at UBC
