Full course description
This course is designed to strengthen the knowledge and practical abilities of those working with cattle in research environments. It offers comprehensive, evidence-based background information so that participants are well-prepared to promote and protect the welfare of research cattle at the Dairy Centre. Students will develop a thorough understanding of how to interpret cattle behavior, how to handle cattle, and how to keep cattle and themselves safe by applying biosecurity measures and using safe handling techniques. All content is grounded in scientific literature and reputable farm animal welfare guidelines to ensure best practices in animal care. To ensure the timely finalization of the course, reputable video sources have been used for the handling and safety modules instead of filming their own. Additional specialized modules—such as practical training for procedures like injections—are also in development.
